Mingas por el Mar

In the coastal community of Mompiche, Mingas por el Mar leads collective work days dedicated to the protection of the ocean and coastal ecosystems. These activities, inspired by the ancestral tradition of the minga, bring together local inhabitants, visitors and organisations that share the same environmental commitment.

In Mompiche, these mingas have the valuable support of the Mompiche Surf Club and the Mompiche Limpio community project, who actively join the days of beach cleaning, environmental education and campaigns to reduce the use of plastics. Girls, boys, young people, surfers, families and tourists work side by side to take care of this territory full of life.

Clean Mompiche

EXPLOREMOMPICHE, together with several allies, hires people from the community - often with disabilities or in a situation of addiction - to carry out cleaning work on the main street and the park. This action not only improves the Mompiche environment, but also offers an opportunity for inclusion and support to those who need it most.

UPC construction

Surf Club

Created with the mission of being a training club, this project has transcended its initial purpose, becoming a catalyst for social transformation. Under the inspiring leadership of its president—a renowned community surfer—it has been possible to integrate a group of young people into a lifestyle that promotes respect for the environment and a sense of community belonging.

Thanks to the commitment of the club members and the generous support of donations, a skate ramp was built that today functions as a meeting, coexistence and training space, both for local youth and for those who visit Mompiche.

REUSA Project

Reusa.ec is a collaborative project that promotes the transition towards an Ecuador free of single-use plastics. Through alliances with companies, municipalities and social organisations, it promotes reuse systems for packaging and utensils in shopping centres, restaurants and coastal areas. Its objective is to reduce waste generation, promote responsible consumption and create sustainable solutions that benefit both the environment and the local economy. Reusing is not only possible, it is urgent.
